About Me
Welcome! My name is Tara Hertelendy, I am from Easton, Maryland and I am a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. Throughout my undergraduate career, I completed two marketing internships that provided me with valuable experience in market research, campaign planning and execution, social media management, and client relationship building. I was also the Vice President of Membership for Kappa Alpha Theta, which was a huge challenge that taught me about communication, people management, and leadership. After graduating, I moved to Arlington, Virginia and began my job as an Event Coordinator for RGI Events. Throughout this role, I track corporate event production timelines, handle all client communications, and manage budgets of up to $500,000. I am able to learn so much everyday and grow with each project. I am excited to see what the future holds for me!

What are my biggest strengths and weaknesses?
One of my biggest strengths is my ability to connect with people. I consider myself very personable, and I value this trait highly, as it isn't one that can necessarily be taught. While I have found success in my classes and field, I sometimes struggle with imposter syndrome, which can make me doubt my abilities and feel undeserving of my accomplishments. I continue to work hard to build that self-confidence and learn more.
What do I do in my free time?
I spend most of my free time with my friends and family. Being around the people I love is what gives me energy! I also spend a lot of time babysitting my two-year-old cousin. Some of my favorite activities are going on long walks, golfing, baking, and spending time at the beach.
What are your long-term career goals and aspirations?
Throughout my current role, I have developed a passion for corporate event planning. I feel that it combines my interests with my strengths very well, and I could see myself in this field long-term. In the future, I hope to work with major sporting events. For example, I would love to end up being a part of event planning for the Olympics, the US Open, or the NHL.
What are your core values that guide your decisions and actions?
Some of my core values that I practice in my everyday life include integrity, accountability, and communication. Independence is vital to my character, and I think that these values reflect that. While my career is extremely important to me, I make sure to remind myself and others that it's not everything and I value life outside of work very highly.
